VIPvan app – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
VIPvan (“we”, “us”) provides the VIPvan app (VIPvan – Moving & Delivery) for booking moving and delivery services in Dublin. This policy explains what information the app uses and why.
1. Information we collect
- Name, email, mobile number and password – to create your account, your booking and to contact you about it.
- Pickup and drop-off locations – to calculate your price and send a driver.
- Your location (with your permission) – to set your pickup point. For drivers, location is used while a job is open so the customer and office can see where the van is.
- Photos you choose to add – to show the driver what needs moving. Photos are taken or chosen only when you tap “Add photo”.
- Items list, notes and chat messages – to plan and carry out the job.
2. How we use it
Only to provide the service: pricing, booking, assigning a driver, live tracking, contacting you and keeping records of jobs. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Sharing
Booking details are shared only with the VIPvan driver and office handling your job. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap. Addresses you type in the search, and the pickup and drop-off points, are sent to OpenStreetMap’s address search (Nominatim) and route service (OSRM) to find the place and the road distance – your name and contact details are not sent.
4. Storage and retention
Booking information is kept for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal and accounting obligations, then deleted.
5. Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your information. Email and we will reply within 30 days. To delete your account, see Delete your VIPvan app account. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie).
6. Permissions
- Location – to set pickup and, for drivers, to share the van’s position during a job.
- Camera – only when you choose to take a photo of items.
You can turn these off in your phone settings at any time.
7. Children
The app is not intended for children under 16.
